Gothenburg, 23 October 2026 – Volvo Car AB reported an operating loss of SEK3.7 billion for the third quarter and announced plans to cut about 2,500 jobs. The result follows global sales of 141,609 vehicles during the quarter, down 10.7% from a year earlier as conditions weakened in China and the United States.
The downturn matters to Asian investors because Volvo Cars is controlled by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and competes across the region’s premium electric-vehicle market. The loss and workforce plan are confirmed company developments; the speed and financial benefit of the restructuring will depend on implementation and future demand.
