Seoul, 30 September 2026 – AMD chief executive Lisa Su is expected to return to South Korea in early October as the company seeks deeper access to the memory and manufacturing capabilities needed for advanced artificial-intelligence chips. The reported itinerary includes possible meetings with government officials and domestic chip developers. A further meeting with Samsung Electronics has attracted particular attention, but neither a meeting nor an additional commercial agreement has been confirmed.
The visit would come roughly seven months after Su met Samsung chairman Lee Jae-yong and senior semiconductor executives in Seoul. Their relationship has moved beyond ceremonial discussions. Samsung has been identified as a preferred supplier of HBM4 high-bandwidth memory for AMD’s next-generation Instinct MI455X accelerator, while the companies have discussed jointly developing DDR5 memory solutions for future EPYC processors and the Helios computing platform. Those arrangements make production execution more consequential than another photograph of executives together.
