Kuala Lumpur, 30 September 2026 – Malaysia’s financial sector is being pressed to turn climate and nature commitments into projects that can attract capital, as the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3) wrapped up its two-day Journey to Zero Conference with a sharper emphasis on execution. The gathering concluded on 29 September after drawing more than 800 participants from finance, government, business, investment and academia.
The conference theme, “Building Climate and Nature Resilience for People and Business,” framed sustainability as a question of financing readiness as much as ambition. Discussions ranged from the energy transition and climate adaptation to carbon markets, nature-related risks and the practical work needed to make projects bankable. For investors, the distinction matters: a promising idea does not become an investable asset until its risks, revenue model, data and delivery capacity can be assessed. Specialist masterclasses on disclosure, nature and adaptation finance underscored the same point: the market needs comparable information and workable structures, not only broad commitments, before institutional money can move at scale.
