Bangkok, 29 September 2026 – Thai Airways has cancelled selected services as flooding around the capital disrupts ground operations at Suvarnabhumi Airport and leaves passengers waiting for delayed baggage. The interruption has affected domestic and international routes, including services connecting Bangkok with other Asian capitals. It is an operational disruption centred on staffing and baggage handling, not evidence that the airport itself has closed.
An official airport account says flooding in surrounding areas prevented some ground-handling employees from reaching work. Insufficient staff combined with problems affecting some baggage carts slowed departures and the unloading of arriving flights. That explanation is more precise than calling the episode a complete baggage-system collapse. It also shows how severe weather can impair aviation even when runways and terminals remain available.
