Asia-Pacific, 26 September 2026 – Asia’s concentration of robot deployment and electronics manufacturing is putting the region near the centre of the emerging market for physical artificial intelligence, where software decisions are translated into movement in factories, warehouses and other operating environments. The investment case is substantial, but it is more demanding than buying a generic AI theme: machines must work safely, repeatedly and economically outside a demonstration setting.

The region already provides a large installed base. The International Federation of Robotics recorded 401,665 industrial robot installations in Asia in 2024, representing 74% of new deployments worldwide. China accounted for 295,045 units, while Japan and South Korea remained major markets. These are historical industrial-robot figures, not a measurement of physical-AI revenue, and that distinction matters when estimating the new market’s size.
