Menlo Park, 21 September 2026 – Meta is reported to be considering a version of its artificial-intelligence smart glasses without cameras, a design change that could reduce bystander concerns while preserving voice-based services. The possible product, referred to as Luna, would test whether privacy-led hardware choices can broaden adoption of wearable AI without sacrificing the company’s ambition to make its assistant a routine part of daily life.

The proposed glasses would reportedly use six microphones, directional speakers and a dedicated button for Meta’s AI assistant. Removing cameras could lower the price, extend battery life and make the product less conspicuous in workplaces and public settings. It would also address one of the strongest objections to connected eyewear: people nearby often cannot tell whether they are being recorded or analysed.
