Hua Hong, Kingboard, and Zijin Gold Emerge as Top Contenders for Hang Seng Index Inclusion Ahead of Quarterly Review

Hong Kong, 21 August 2026 – Pure-play foundry Hua Hong Semiconductor, electronics materials leader Kingboard Holdings, and resources heavyweight Zijin Gold International have emerged as leading candidate additions to Hong Kong’s benchmark Hang Seng Index ahead of the index compiler’s quarterly review announcement.

The quarterly rebalancing exercise, conducted by Hang Seng Indexes Company, evaluates constituent eligibility based on market capitalisation rankings, turnover velocity, sector representation, and financial stability. Potential additions to the blue-chip gauge are closely watched by global institutional allocators, as inclusion triggers mandatory asset reallocation from passive tracker funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tied to the benchmark.
