Malaysia’s Labour Demand Reaches 9.25 Million Jobs as Services Lead Growth

Kuala Lumpur, 13 August 2026 – Malaysia’s labour demand increased 1.7% year on year to 9.25 million jobs in the second quarter of 2026, signalling continued business-sector absorption despite uncertainty in the global economy.

Of the total positions, 97.9% were filled and 2.1% were vacant. Filled jobs rose 1.7% to 9.05 million from 8.9 million a year earlier, while vacancies edged up 0.4% to 195,700.
