Kuala Lumpur, 8 August 2026 – The tenure of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) President and Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik is set to be extended, according to sources familiar with the matter, providing leadership continuity for Malaysia’s state energy firm as it navigates complex global market dynamics and long-term decarbonization goals. The extension reflects government confidence in Taufik’s stewardship, which has prioritized balance sheet discipline, capital allocation toward low-carbon assets, and operational resilience since his initial appointment in July 2020.
