GLICs Triple Domestic Investments to RM20.3 Billion under GEAR-uP as Malaysia Targets Strategic Capabilities

Putrajaya, 8 August 2026 – Malaysia’s six major Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLICs) allocated and deployed RM20.3 billion in domestic direct investment in 2025, marking a threefold surge from the RM6.6 billion recorded in 2024. The acceleration reflects the first full-year report card of the Government-Linked Enterprises Activation and Reform Programme (GEAR-uP), an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance to convert institutional capital into strategic industrial capabilities, higher-paying jobs, and supply chain resilience.
