Kuala Lumpur, 30 July 2026 – A proposal to expand the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI from 30 companies to 50 could reshape how international and domestic investors view Malaysia’s largest listed businesses, while creating a wider pool of stocks exposed to index-linked capital.
The benchmark is concentrated in 30 major companies, with banks, utilities, telecommunications groups and plantation businesses carrying substantial weight. Adding 20 constituents would broaden representation and may better reflect Malaysia’s increasingly diverse economy, including technology, healthcare, industrial, consumer and infrastructure-related companies.
