Global Business Costs Reach Record High as Malaysia Retains Economic Resilience

Kuala Lumpur, 27 July 2026 – Global operating costs climbed to a record high during the second quarter of 2026, but Malaysia continued to demonstrate relative economic resilience as firm domestic demand, moderate inflation and broad-based sector growth helped cushion the impact of external pressures.

The latest Global Economic Conditions Survey by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and Institute of Management Accountants found that more than three-quarters of finance professionals worldwide experienced higher operating costs during the quarter. The reading surpassed the survey’s previous peak, reflecting elevated commodity prices and continuing disruption across international supply chains.
