Malaysia’s Economy Surges 5.8% in Second Quarter as Exports and Manufacturing Strengthen

Kuala Lumpur, 17 July 2026 – Malaysia’s economy expanded by a stronger-than-expected 5.8% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, supported by robust services, stronger manufacturing activity and rising exports of electrical and electronics products.

The advance estimate exceeded the market’s median forecast of 5.2% and accelerated from the 5.4% growth recorded in the first quarter.
