AI Is Transforming Banking, But Human Trust Remains Critical, Says Amir Hamzah

Kuala Lumpur, 8 July 2026 – Artificial intelligence is transforming Malaysia’s banking sector, but human trust, judgement and governance must remain at the centre of financial services, said Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

Speaking at the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers’ Nexus 2026, Amir Hamzah said AI is already reshaping banking across credit assessments, fraud detection, customer engagement, market surveillance, internal audit, compliance, cybersecurity, risk modelling and operational efficiency.
