FBM KLCI Opens Higher As Wall Street Gains Lift Sentiment, But Caution Persists

Kuala Lumpur, 3 July 2026 – Bursa Malaysia opened on a firmer note on Friday, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street after the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a record high, although cautious regional sentiment and continued foreign fund outflows kept investors selective.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI rose 7.5 points, or 0.45%, to 1,669.33 as at 9:14am, after opening 3.9 points higher at 1,665.73. The move followed a stronger overnight session in the United States, where the Dow climbed 1.14% to a record close of 52,900.07. The S&P 500 was almost unchanged at 7,483.24, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.80% to 25,832.67 as technology and chip-related weakness weighed on sentiment.
