Kuala Lumpur, 10 November 2025 – The Malaysian ringgit made a robust start to the week, touching a fresh level of RM 4.1670/1830 per US dollar at around 8:09 am Monday morning, up from last week’s close of RM 4.1735/1775.
According to analysts, several factors are driving this renewed strength. Chief among them is the narrowing interest-rate gap between Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Federal Reserve, which is making Malaysian assets more attractive. Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid, chief economist at Bank Muamalat Malaysia, noted the ringgit has already appreciated over 7 per cent year-to-date, earning the title of Asia’s best-performing currency.
Additionally, the currency’s performance reflects Malaysia’s resilient economic backdrop, strong domestic demand and supportive external trade conditions, which bolster investor confidence. Analysts are closely watching Malaysia’s upcoming third-quarter 2025 GDP data for further confirmation of underlying strength.
However, caution remains warranted. External risks including resurgent US dollar strength, global commodity swings and geopolitical uncertainty may challenge the currency’s upward momentum. Some strategists caution that the current level may be vulnerable if policy-oriented expectations shift.
