Wio Bank, Alibaba Cloud Team Up to Advance AI Adoption in Financial Services

DUBAI, 17 October 2025 – Abu Dhabi-based Wio Bank PJSC (Wio Bank) is partnering with Alibaba Cloud, the cloud services arm of Alibaba Group, to advance progress in AI, cloud computing, and fintech for banking services in the Middle East.

The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the sidelines of GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, UAE.

Wio Bank is a leading digital financial platform in the Middle East. The company is backed by investors including First Abu Dhabi Bank, ADQ, and Alpha Dhabi.

Through this partnership, Alibaba Cloud and Wio Bank will jointly create AI-powered banking agents for smoother operations and customer service, all hosted on Alibaba Cloud’s data centres in Dubai. They will be utilising Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen large language model, Platform for AI, as well as its agentic platforms.

Alibaba Cloud established its presence in the UAE and Middle East region since 2016, providing cloud services for public institutions and private firms alike.
