BATU KAWAN, PENANG, 06 October 2025 — UWC Berhad, a leading integrated engineering and supporting services provider, marked a major milestone in Malaysia’s clean mobility journey with the official launch of its direct current (DC) electric vehicle (EV) charger, developed through its subsidiary North Greentech Sdn. Bhd.

The inauguration ceremony, held at UWC’s Batu Kawan facility, was graced by the presence of Duli Yang Amat Mulia Raja DiHilir Perak Darul Ridzuan, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah, underscoring the national significance of this technological breakthrough in Malaysia’s fast-growing EV ecosystem.

NGT’s DC fast chargers are available in multiple configurations, ranging from 60 kW to 400 kW, offering flexible solutions for commercial, industrial, and fleet applications. The company is also in the final stages of certifying its high-capacity satellite charger, capable of delivering up to 800 kW through five dispensers and ten charging guns, a major leap in domestic EV infrastructure capability.

This initiative aligns closely with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021–2030, both of which aim to accelerate the adoption of clean transportation technologies and reduce the country’s overall carbon emissions. The DC charger’s design emphasises speed, reliability, and compact engineering, making it a scalable and cost-efficient solution to meet growing EV demand.

UWC Executive Director and Group CEO Dato’ Sri Ng Chai Eng described the launch as a landmark in the Group’s sustainability drive.

“We are pleased to launch our DC EV charger, marking an important milestone in UWC’s journey to support the nation’s clean energy transition. As a homegrown engineering solutions provider, we aim to strengthen Malaysia’s EV ecosystem by delivering reliable, locally engineered charging solutions that accelerate the shift towards a greener and more sustainable future,” he said.
“This achievement not only enhances our technological capabilities but also sharpens our operational focus as we continue to seize opportunities within the rapidly evolving technology landscape.”

Echoing that sentiment, NGT Chairman Yang Mulia Raja Idris A’fifullah Shah said the milestone symbolises Malaysia’s growing capacity to localise EV technologies and drive industrial competitiveness.

“The introduction of our DC fast charger is a proud moment for North Greentech as we continue to champion Malaysia’s transition towards sustainable transportation. We believe accessible charging infrastructure is the key to wider EV adoption, and this launch signifies our readiness to support both public and private sectors in achieving that goal,” he said.

With the government and industry moving in tandem toward a low-carbon future, UWC’s entry into the EV infrastructure space signals its ambition to be a key enabler in Malaysia’s green economy. Through NGT, the Group is poised to support large-scale deployment of charging networks, contributing to cleaner mobility and positioning Malaysia as a competitive player in the regional EV supply chain.
