Singapore, 4 August 2026 – A US-led consortium is seeking more than US$20 billion for critical-minerals projects, with Southeast Asia among the target regions, as governments and investors race to diversify supply chains for energy, defence and advanced manufacturing.
The Orion Critical Mineral Consortium brings together public and private capital to finance extraction, processing and related infrastructure. The scale of the ambition reflects a shift from isolated mine investment toward integrated supply chains capable of moving material from resource deposits to battery, electronics and industrial customers.
