Putrajaya, 10 October 2026 – Malaysia’s Budget 2027 places social justice and household living standards at the centre of an expansionary RM510 billion fiscal plan, while retaining targets for a lower deficit and debt ratio. The investment question is whether larger transfers and service commitments can support consumption and inclusion without weakening the fiscal credibility that anchors borrowing costs and the ringgit.
The government expects subsidies, assistance and incentives to exceed RM80 billion next year, including about RM40 billion for fuel subsidies and nearly RM3.3 billion for Social Welfare Department programmes. Allocations for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah will rise to RM16 billion from RM15 billion, widening the scale of direct household support.
