New York, 25 September 2026 – US equities ended the 24 September session close to unchanged, but the muted headline concealed a sharper repricing of energy and interest-rate risk. For Asian investors with exposure to American technology, dollar funding or export demand, the signal is less about one index point than about the cost of capital implied by higher oil prices and Treasury yields.
Preliminary closing data put the S&P 500 down 2.20 points, or 0.03%, at 7,703.83. The Nasdaq Composite edged up 1.76 points, or 0.01%, to 26,937.79, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 162.41 points, or 0.32%, to 51,349.18. These are preliminary figures and may differ slightly from final exchange data; the central observation is that broad US equities finished nearly flat. Sector dispersion and intraday reversals also show why a single close-to-close percentage can understate the risk experienced during trading.
