Hong Kong, 29 July 2026 – The profit gap between leading American and Chinese corporations has widened even as both countries retain a large presence in the 2026 ranking of the world’s biggest companies by revenue, highlighting a growing divergence in business models and returns.
Greater China placed 122 companies on the latest list, down eight from a year earlier and its lowest representation since 2018. The United States retained the numerical lead, while highly profitable technology and platform businesses strengthened its advantage in aggregate earnings.
