Washington, 12 August 2026 – US consumer inflation was expected to moderate in July as gasoline prices eased, offering investors a potentially constructive signal on household costs while underlying price pressures remained above the Federal Reserve’s comfort zone.
Economists forecast the consumer price index increased 0.1% in July after falling 0.4% in June. The annual rate was expected to slow to 3.4% from 3.5%. Excluding food and energy, core prices were projected to rise 0.2% for the month and 2.5% from a year earlier.
