Kuala Lumpur, 20 July 2026 – Malaysia’s stronger-than-expected economic performance during the first half of 2026 has improved the country’s full-year growth outlook, supported by resilient household spending, private investment and continued demand for electrical and electronics products.
The economy expanded by 5.8% year-on-year in the second quarter, accelerating from the 5.4% growth recorded during the first three months of the year. This lifted first-half growth to approximately 5.6%, providing Malaysia with a stronger foundation as it enters the second half.
