Geneva, 29 October 2026 – STMicroelectronics reported third-quarter operating income excluding one-off charges of US$429 million, nearly double the year-earlier figure, and forecast fourth-quarter revenue of about US$4.15 billion. The Franco-Italian chipmaker said demand from AI data centres and satellite operators was adding to a broader recovery, while its third-quarter gross margin rose to 37.3% from 33.2% a year earlier.
For Asian investors and electronics manufacturers, the result provides a direct measure of how AI infrastructure is reaching semiconductor suppliers beyond the largest computing companies. The confirmed figures concern operating income, revenue guidance and gross margin; the investment implication is analytical. Demand for power semiconductors, microcontrollers and sensors can improve as data centres expand, but the durability of the cycle still depends on customer orders, capacity use and pricing.
