South Korea Considers Retail Investment Cap on Leveraged ETFs

Seoul, 28 July 2026 – South Korea is considering limits on how much individual investors can place in single-stock leveraged exchange-traded funds as regulators intensify efforts to contain speculative trading and reduce volatility across the country’s equity market.

Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Eog-weon said authorities were examining additional measures during a meeting with brokerages and asset managers in Seoul. The options include imposing a ceiling on the total value that each retail investor may allocate to the high-risk products.
