Shanghai Clearing House Expands Offshore Yuan Risk Infrastructure

Shanghai, 29 July 2026 – Shanghai Clearing House is expanding its offshore yuan ambitions by broadening central-counterparty clearing across bonds, interest-rate products and foreign exchange. The initiative is designed to give overseas investors more tools to hedge exposure while strengthening the infrastructure behind yuan-denominated assets.

Clearing is a less visible but essential part of market development. A central counterparty stands between buyers and sellers, manages collateral and reduces the risk that one failed trade spreads through the system. Extending that service across more yuan products can lower operational friction and make it easier for global institutions to manage duration, currency and counterparty risks.
