Shah Alam, 24 October 2026 – Selangor is targeting RM90 billion in investments for 2026, following a reported RM70 billion in approved investments during the first six months of the year.
The target was highlighted by Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari on 24 October, reflecting the state’s ambition to strengthen its position as one of Malaysia’s leading economic centres.
Selangor recorded approximately RM80 billion in investments last year, according to the state government’s announcement.
The latest figures suggest continued investor interest, particularly in higher-value industries and technology-related activities. However, investment approvals represent the beginning of an economic process, not its completion.
The more important question is how effectively approved projects become operating businesses.
