Petaling Jaya, 25 August 2025 – SD Guthrie Berhad (“Guthrie” or “the Group”) has announced the appointment of Mohd Haris Mohd Arshad as Deputy Group Managing Director (Deputy GMD), effective 1 September 2025.
Mohd Haris, 53, currently serves as the Group Chief Operating Officer (COO). He joined Guthrie in 2014 as Head of the Downstream Manufacturing unit before progressing to COO of the Downstream segment in 2017. Following the consolidation of the Group’s downstream businesses under Sime Darby Oils in 2019, he was appointed its first Managing Director, where he played a pivotal role in driving growth and transformation, achieving consistent profit expansion, and advancing initiatives in operational excellence, sustainability, governance, digitalisation, health & safety, and talent development.
As Group COO, Mohd Haris has been instrumental in laying the foundations for Guthrie’s ‘OneStream’ business model, while championing mechanisation, automation, and digitalisation within the palm oil industry. Beyond the Group, he serves as Chairman of the Board of the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO), a Board Member of the Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia (PORAM), and a Trustee of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC).
Prior to Guthrie, he held senior leadership positions in global trading, marketing, commodity procurement, and risk management with multinational corporations including Cargill, Nestlé, and Unilever.
Mohd Haris holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, USA, and is an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School, USA.
