KUALA LUMPUR, 18 December 2025 — Shares of Scientex Bhd were among the top gainers on Bursa Malaysia in early trade today following a positive set of first-quarter earnings results for the period ended 31 October 2025 (1Q FY2026). At around 9.58 a.m., the stock climbed 10 sen to RM3.52, with heightened trading activity as investors reacted to the improved performance.
The robust share market response comes after Scientex reported an 11.1 per cent year-on-year increase in net profit to RM142.91 million, up from RM128.61 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue also grew 4.1 per cent to RM1.16 billion, supported by stronger contributions from both its packaging and property segments.
Analysts note that the bottom-line growth reflects a favourable sales mix, ongoing cost-saving measures and enhanced operational efficiencies in the group’s core packaging business, coupled with steady property sales and development progress across regions. Scientex has also been advancing its affordable housing and township projects, adding to its longer-term growth prospects.
Despite the industry’s competitive pressures, inflationary headwinds and subdued overall sentiment, market participants are viewing the solid quarterly metrics as a sign of resilience, particularly in an environment where demand for packaging and property remains stable. RHB Investment Bank Bhd has commented that the counter is well-placed for a stronger full year in FY2026 underpinned by structural demand and cost discipline.
The Ledger Asia View:
Scientex’s early trade gains following its Q1 result underscore investor focus on earnings upgrades and operational leverage, especially for conglomerates with diversified revenue engines. For Malaysian equity investors, the blend of steady packaging performance and property development momentum, amid broader market volatility, highlights how earnings quality can drive stock performance ahead of macro catalysts. Continued execution on new launches and landbank expansion will be key to sustaining interest through FY2026.
