Makkah, 16 October 2025 — His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, has announced the launch of King Salman Gate, a transformative mixed-use development in the Holy City of Makkah.
Spanning 12 million square metres of gross floor area adjacent to AlMasjid AlHaram, the project represents a major milestone in Makkah’s urban development and will serve as a global model for modern city planning.
Enhancing Access and the Pilgrim Experience
The King Salman Gate project is designed to enhance access to AlMasjid AlHaram, improve service quality, and enrich the spiritual and cultural experience for millions of visitors. It aligns closely with the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Pilgrim Experience Programme, which aims to improve services and facilities for pilgrims and visitors to the Holy Mosque.
Strategically located beside AlMasjid AlHaram, the integrated destination will feature residential, hospitality, commercial and cultural zones, accommodating around 900,000 worshippers across indoor and outdoor prayer spaces.
A Blend of Heritage and Modern Design
The development will combine modern infrastructure with Makkah’s traditional architectural identity, creating a seamless connection between the old and the new. With direct links to public transportation networks, the project will ensure smooth access and comfort for visitors while improving urban mobility around the central area.
As part of its commitment to preserving Makkah’s heritage, the project will restore and develop approximately 19,000 square metres of heritage sites, protecting the city’s cultural and historical legacy.
Driving Economic Growth under Vision 2030
King Salman Gate will also play a key role in Saudi Vision 2030, contributing to the Kingdom’s economic transformation by generating over 300,000 jobs by 2036.
The project is being developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF). The company’s mission is to advance urban development around AlMasjid AlHaram and position Makkah as a global benchmark in real estate and city planning.
RUA AlHaram AlMakki is committed to sustainable development and resource management, integrating innovative design solutions that benefit residents, pilgrims, and visitors while preserving the city’s cultural character.
