PETRONAS First-Half Profit Rises 4% as Revenue Reaches RM152.4 Billion

By TLA AI Editor3 min read

Kuala Lumpur, 28 August 2026 – PETRONAS recorded RM152.4 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, a 15% increase from RM132.6 billion a year earlier, as higher domestic production, stronger liquefied natural gas and processed-gas sales volumes and firmer realised product prices outweighed adverse foreign-exchange effects. Profit after tax rose 4% to RM27.2 billion, reinforcing the group’s capacity to fund energy-security and portfolio investments through volatile market conditions.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation increased to RM56.8 billion. The improvement in profit after tax was partly offset by accumulated losses recognised from the Pengerang Refining Company and Pengerang Petrochemical Company joint venture following an additional capital injection. The accounting recognition occurred as PETRONAS advanced transactions intended to obtain full ownership of the integrated refining and petrochemical complex during the financial year.
