Tokyo, 6 August 2026 – Morgan Stanley’s Japanese brokerage operation generated record annual revenue as renewed investor interest in the country’s equity market delivered a powerful lift to trading activity and strengthened the bank’s position against its global competitors.

Net revenue at the US bank’s majority-controlled local brokerage rose by almost 10% to ¥168.3 billion, equivalent to approximately US$1.1 billion, for the financial year ended March 2026. The result surpassed the revenue recorded by JPMorgan Chase’s Japanese operation and highlighted the commercial value of Morgan Stanley’s longstanding partnership with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
