Seattle, 6 July 2026 – Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs, or about 2.1% of its global workforce, as the technology giant restructures parts of its business and undertakes a major overhaul of its Xbox gaming division.
The latest cuts are expected to affect Microsoft’s commercial sales operations and Xbox, with the gaming unit facing one of its largest restructuring exercises in years. About 1,600 Xbox roles are being cut immediately, while total job reductions in the gaming division are expected to reach around 3,200 this fiscal year.
