El Paso, 5 May 2026 – Meta Platforms is moving to arrange a financing package of about US$13 billion for its data centre project in El Paso, Texas, underscoring how the global artificial intelligence race is increasingly moving beyond software and into large-scale infrastructure finance.
The financing is expected to support Meta’s expanding AI data centre ambitions in Texas, where the El Paso project has grown significantly in scale. The company had earlier raised its investment commitment for the site from US$1.5 billion to US$10 billion, with the facility expected to open in 2028 and reach capacity of about 1 gigawatt.
