Maybank Executes Malaysia’s First Tokenised Supply Chain Financing Transaction to Accelerate MSME Liquidity

Kuala Lumpur, 20 August 2026 – Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) has completed Malaysia’s inaugural tokenised supply chain financing (SCF) transaction, piloting a live blockchain-enabled financing mechanism designed to enhance settlement velocity, operational transparency, and working capital access across multi-tier industrial supply chains.

The landmark RM1.0 million pilot transaction was executed in partnership with enterprise digital finance company Virtual Economy Technology Sdn Bhd (V Systems) through its proprietary real-world asset tokenisation platform, NexA. The platform operates within the regulatory sandbox framework established by the Securities Commission Malaysia. The inaugural transaction provided digitized trade receivable financing to Syarikat Logam Unitrade Sdn Bhd (Unitrade), one of Malaysia’s foremost building and construction material distributors, with Maybank acting as the sole liquidity provider.
