Kuala Lumpur, 5 November 2026 – Malaysia’s Women, Family and Community Development Ministry is seeking a more coordinated response to domestic violence through a policy symposium bringing together agencies, researchers, non-governmental organisations and survivors. Minister Nancy Shukri outlined the effort on 5 November against a backdrop of 7,391 reported domestic-violence cases in 2025, up from 7,116 in 2024.
For employers, service providers and organisations supporting families, the discussion concerns access to protection and assistance rather than a new corporate compliance regime. Nancy said domestic violence was a security and human-rights issue, not simply a private family matter. Feedback from the symposium will inform proposed improvements; a completed roadmap or new legal obligation was not announced.
