Kuala Lumpur, 1 October 2026 – Malaysia Aviation Group has signed an agreement to acquire Sepang Aircraft Engineering from Airbus, a move that would expand its maintenance, repair and overhaul platform if regulatory and other conditions are met. The proposed transaction is strategically significant for a carrier group seeking more third-party engineering income, but it has not yet closed and its purchase price has not been publicly disclosed.
The target is an established Malaysian aircraft-maintenance business associated with Airbus narrow-body work. Malaysia Aviation Group says the acquisition would complement MAB Engineering and support its Long-Term Business Plan 3.0. The announced completion window is 2027, subject to conditions that include approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia. Until those steps are satisfied, the two operations should be treated as separate businesses rather than as an integrated platform already delivering synergies.
