Jakarta, 5 August 2026 – Indonesia’s economy expanded by 5.3% year on year in the second quarter, slowing from the first quarter’s 5.61% pace but exceeding market expectations and preserving the country’s position among Asia’s faster-growing major economies.
The moderation was widely anticipated after the opening quarter benefited from holiday-related mobility, household spending support and government measures. A 5.3% result nevertheless indicates that domestic demand remained resilient as global trade, commodity prices and geopolitical conditions created a less predictable external environment.
