Shah Alam, 22 August 2025i-City, Malaysia’s flagship digital city, has signed a landmark partnership with AgiBot Innovation (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese embodied AI company, to establish the country’s first AI & Robotics Experience Centre. The collaboration marks a major step in positioning i-City as a regional hub for next-generation technologies and smart city innovation.

For i-City, the alliance represents a strategic leap toward becoming the epicentre of Malaysia’s AI and robotics transformation. For AgiBot—backed by global technology giants Tencent, LG, and JD.com—the partnership signifies its first major deployment outside China, bringing cutting-edge embodied AI expertise into Malaysia’s urban ecosystem. The initiative is expected to reshape sectors ranging from property and hospitality to tourism and day-to-day urban living.

“This partnership not only strengthens i-City’s role as Malaysia’s smart ultrapolis but also positions us to attract global investors, innovators, and talent,” said Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, Chairman of I-Berhad, i-City’s master developer. “By joining forces with AgiBot, we are making i-City the epicentre of AI and robotics innovation in Malaysia.”

Deng Tai Hua, Founder, Chairman and CEO of AgiBot, echoed this vision, stating that the collaboration will demonstrate how embodied AI can transform urban living. “Through i-City, AgiBot will showcase transformative experiences that redefine property development, tourism and city life, setting new benchmarks for smart cities across the region,” he said.

The first phase of the partnership will see the unveiling of the AI & Robotics Experience Centre by year-end, offering the public direct exposure to embodied AI technologies. Longer-term plans include embedding robotics into i-City’s hospitality assets and developing an AI Smart Tower, a wellness-focused property designed to integrate AI and robotics in supporting longevity and smart healthcare.

The agreement reinforces i-City’s ambition to remain at the forefront of Malaysia’s digital economy. By weaving AI and robotics into the township’s DNA, i-City and AgiBot aim to create a smarter, more vibrant, and future-ready urban hub that reflects the next frontier of regional innovation.
