Hong Kong, 3 August 2026 – Five-year Chinese government bond futures began trading in Hong Kong on Monday, giving global investors a new offshore instrument for managing interest-rate exposure to the world’s second-largest sovereign debt market.

The cash-settled contracts are denominated in renminbi and linked to mainland government bonds issued by China’s Ministry of Finance. Their introduction marks the first time Chinese sovereign bond futures have been made available through an offshore exchange, expanding the range of risk-management products accessible to international institutions.
