Kuala Lumpur, 11 August 2026 – Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau officiated the opening of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur ETO) on Tuesday, establishing a permanent operational base to deepen trade, investment, and strategic ties with Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region.
The newly opened permanent facility marks the HKSAR Government’s 15th overseas ETO and its fourth in the ASEAN region. Having initially commenced operations in December 2025, the office holds a geographic remit covering Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Laos, and Pakistan. Working alongside Invest Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Kuala Lumpur ETO aims to expand government-to-government links and facilitate two-way investment flows.
