Petaling Jaya, 29 September 2026 – Gamuda Bhd’s Australian engineering arm has signed an A$790 million, approximately RM2.28 billion, contract to deliver the first stage of Victoria’s Mortlake Energy Hub. The win takes Gamuda’s reported new job awards above RM12 billion in the first two months of its financial year ending July 2027. New awards are not the same measure as total outstanding order backlog, and investors should not use the two interchangeably.

The engineering, procurement and construction contract covers a solar-and-storage project being developed by Yanara. According to Gamuda’s project announcement, Stage 1 is designed for 435 MW of solar generation and a 300 MW battery capable of 4.5 hours of discharge. The figures describe distinct components: megawatts of generation and storage power, plus the battery’s duration. They should not be added together as a single capacity number.
