Kuala Lumpur, 7 September 2026 – The FBM KLCI returned to positive territory in early Monday trade as selected blue chips drew buyers after the previous week’s losses. The benchmark rose 3.12 points, or 0.18%, to 1,711.22 at 9.18am after opening 1.60 points higher at 1,709.70, keeping the closely watched 1,700 level intact at the start of a risk-heavy week.

The advance was supported by a small group of heavyweight counters rather than a broad surge. Nestlé Malaysia gained 26 sen to RM95.10, Hong Leong Bank added 22 sen to RM23.88, Hong Leong Financial Group rose eight sen to RM19.08 and Petronas Gas climbed eight sen to RM17.34. Their gains were partly offset by weakness in Ta Ann, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia, United Plantations and Kelington Group.
