Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 24 August 2026 – Malaysia’s benchmark equity index ended almost unchanged as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of a holiday-shortened trading week and the final stretch of the corporate earnings season. The session offered a restrained opening to the week, with the headline index stable but broader market breadth pointing to more defensive positioning.
The FBM KLCI slipped 0.15 point, or 0.01 per cent, to 1,736.33 after reaching an intraday high of 1,739.47. The narrow decline masks a wider imbalance: 714 stocks fell compared with 482 gainers. Turnover reached 3.61 billion shares valued at RM3.04 billion, indicating that investors remained active even as the benchmark showed little net movement.
