China’s Robot-Ban Warning Deepens US Technology and Supply-Chain Divide

Beijing, 30 July 2026 – China has warned that it may retaliate against a United States ban covering new foreign-made humanoid and quadruped robots, escalating a technology dispute that now reaches beyond advanced chips into machines expected to support factories, logistics and consumer services.

The US measure places new robot models and certain connected power inverters within a national-security framework. Officials have argued that networked machines could create surveillance, cybersecurity and supply-chain risks. Beijing has rejected that rationale, saying the policy stretches security concerns to suppress Chinese companies and damages bilateral relations.
