Beijing, 22 September 2026 – China has launched a nationwide campaign to encourage travel and cultural spending around the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, pairing events with consumer vouchers. Local governments plan more than 20,000 cultural and tourism activities and over 310 million yuan in vouchers and subsidies. The programme is a spending stimulus for a major seasonal window, not a reported increase in household income.
The campaign began on 22 September and is scheduled to run from late September through October. The three-day Mid-Autumn break falls on 25–27 September, followed by the National Day holiday from 1–7 October. The sequence gives travel operators, hotels, attractions and retailers an unusually concentrated period to convert promotions into bookings and sales.
