Shanghai, 13 October 2026 – China Mobile has completed a US$403 million expansion of its intelligent computing centre in Hohhot, tripling the site’s processing capacity as China accelerates investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure. The enlarged facility now offers 20,100 petaflops of total computing power, with 16,700 petaflops allocated to AI and other smart-computing workloads.
The project covers about 44,500 square metres and provides 120 megawatts of information-technology power. Its previous reported capacity was 6,700 petaflops. A petaflop represents one quadrillion computing operations per second, although comparisons between facilities require care because performance depends on numerical precision, hardware configuration and workload efficiency as well as the headline figure.
