Cathay’s First-Half Profit Rises to HK$6.2 Billion Despite Jet-Fuel Shock

Hong Kong, 10 August 2026 – Cathay Group reported attributable profit of HK$6.2 billion for the first half of 2026, up from HK$3.7 billion a year earlier, as stronger airline operations and associate contributions outweighed a sharp second-quarter increase in jet-fuel costs.

The largest component was an approximately HK$1.4 billion non-cash deemed partial-disposal gain caused by dilution of the group’s equity interest in Air China.
