Bursa Malaysia announces the appointment of a new Independent Non-Executive Director

Kuala Lumpur, 14 August 2025 – Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the
“Exchange”) today announced the appointment of Dato’ Mohamed Rafique Merican as an
Independent Non-Executive Director to its Board of Directors (“Board”), effective 15 August

Dato’ Rafique will also serve as a member of the Audit Committee as well as the
Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Dato’ Rafique brings over 30 years of extensive experience across financial services
investment, power, facilities management, and property development. He previously
served as Group Chief Executive Officer of Islamic Banking, Maybank Group, and Chief
Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic Berhad.

He has also held key leadership roles including Chief Financial Officer of Tenaga Nasional
Berhad, Chief Executive Officer of Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd, Chief Financial Officer and Joint
Company Secretary of Malakoff Berhad, and Director of Group Corporate Services of
Amanah Capital Partners Berhad. Earlier in his career, Dato’ Rafique held senior positions in
corporate finance and advisory at various companies, including Taiping Consolidated
Berhad, Landmarks Berhad, and Bumiputra Merchant Bankers Berhad.

Dato’ Rafique is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (“ACCA”)
United Kingdom, a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, and
attended the Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School. He was
formerly a member of the Malaysia Accounting Standards Board.
